Thumbs Down Yet Again to Whoopi Goldberg

I have written several times before about my disappointment in some of the stupid thing Whoopi Goldberg has said since her decision a few years ago to join The View. At one time the woman would have been on the top of my list of most respected actress's, she has since then taken a nose dive to pretty near the bottom.

Whoopi speaks a lot about racism on The View, yet seems oblivious to her own prejudices which she spews so self-righteously. Goldberg's targets are usually women, and often can barely contain her disdain for their behavior. Again yesterday she argued emphatically that no one really knows what happened between Rihanna and Chris Brown (though the reports are out there) and again Goldberg more than implied somehow Rihanna was somehow responsible for being beaten. Goldberg seems to be completely ignorant to the fact that even if, as she is implying, Rihanna was a royal bitch, taunting, egging him on, it still in no way excuses or justifies his actions.

I actually don't mind that Chris Brown was on the Grammy's or that he getting a second chance, everyone deserves one. What bothers me are those, like Goldberg, and all those who stood up and cheered after his performance last week, who somehow feel the need to defend and treat him as if somehow he was the victim of something, he was not.

I am not quite sure how they processed it, but millions of young victims of abuse, and millions of young abusers.... all took notice.
