Making An Impact: Joseph Nicholas by Manuscript Photography
Last month I introduced FH readers to one of my favorite people, and photographers, Storyteller, Manuscript Photography. The man behind Manuscript Photography is on the move, both within the industry and within his personal life. Last week, in the middle the snow storm that hit New York, without heat or power, he moved out of his cottage to head south for warmer temperatures and shooting locations.
I can't think of a better location than the one used to shoot 22 year old Joseph Nicholas The rural farm setting in upstate New York was perfect for showcasing both model and photographer. From an early age modeling, and especially acting, have been passions of Joseph's that he takes very seriously.
'I feel like I am more an actor than model and plan on making a big impact on this industry and won't settle for much less.'
Joseph Nicholas
Currently in school majoring in business and Theatre, Joseph's passion and desire for success in the entertainment business is evident in his dedication to both the artistic and business side of his work. Joseph says working with Manuscript Photography was easy. Joseph liked that they were both towards the beginning of their similar, but different careers, so they learned together during the shoot.
'He's a great guy and am glad to be a part of his portfolio, and glad to have his work in mine.'

Joseph was one of the first models Manuscript Photography connected with on Model Mayhem.
'At first I wasn't sure he was the kind of model I was looking for. He had more of a serious NY actor look, but the minute he walked through my studio door, I knew he was a real discovery. His body is a work of art, but it is his remarkable poise and carriage that creates the perfect frame.'
'We started our shoot by working in the carriage house where I had been living. Joseph immediately picked up on the themes I was exploring, using textures and fabrics to create a mood. Later we moved to a neighbor's horse barn. Luckily the light was just perfect for the interior shots. At one point, Joseph was up in the hayloft and nearly tumbled to the hard dirt floor, pulling off a pose I naively asked him to try. But he's pretty agile and caught himself just in time.'
'This young man is the classic "tall, dark and handsome" Latin lover type. I can see him in a tuxedo dancing a tango, a la Rudolph Valentino, or in more serious moments as a young Robert de Niro. Despite his obvious attributes, of which I only touched upon, Joseph is not at all vain or egotistical. He listens and responds warmly to questions, and always radiates charm and good will. He has an actor's gift for expression, a dancer's grace, despite his incredibly well-developed physique, and a true model's flair for second-guessing the photographer's wishes. It is almost impossible to take a bad picture of Joseph, because even when you don't get exactly the shot you intended, he turns it into something totally unexpected and revelatory. Add to all that his A-student intelligence and old-fashioned politeness, and you have a thoroughly delightful young man with great promise and a bright future.'
