Collaboration of the Day: David Vance & Nathan Wessel

If you are a regular viewer of FH & Other things you know that David Vance is one of my favorite photographers. I love how David photographs his subjects in such a simple, yet beautiful way. David has worked with many beautiful men, but one of my favorites, who also happens to be one of David's friends and favorite subjects is model Nathan Wessel.

Together this pair has created countless beautiful images, and Nathan has been a part of many of David's projects. I first saw pictures of Nathan on the net awhile ago, and since have been trying to find out more about him. There is something quite special about Nathan, a self assurance that comes through in his work. Nathan never looks better than when behind the lens of the skillful David Vance. What do....

What do Nathan Wessel (below), Phil Fusco, Ashtyn Long, Radoslav Vanko, Leonardo Corredor, Joshua Michael Brickman, Nelson Ribeiro & Levi Poulter have in common with Beatrice Arthur and Rue McClanahan. Well besides all having been featured at some point on FH, they also all have had the privilege of spending time in front of the powerful lens of David Vance.

David Vance is one of favorite photographers. I have written in the past that David's work not only brings passion and joy into the lives of those who view it, it as well inspires. David is a true artist. To me, he is not only able to bring out the beauty in others, but more than than, his true gift, is his ability to channel his own through them. He then shares the results with the rest of us.

Last year I profiled David's work with Nathan Wessel. (see below). David has an incredible book 'Muse' which chronicles his work with Nathan. You can check out some shots from that book, as well as see other of David's books HERE: David tells me that Nathan is also a part of "Erotic Dreams," his new book due out in October from Bruno Gmuender.

As well as shooting some of the worlds most beautiful men, David is a celebrity photographer. One of his first assignments was photographing the cast of the original Broadway production of "Oh! Calcutta." Celebrity portraits include William Baldwin, Steven Bauer, Toni Braxton, Gloria Estefan, Daisey Fuentes, Andy Garcia, Hal Holbrook, Sophia Loren, Ricky Martin, Johnny Mathis, Luciano Pavarotti, Steven Seagal, Eli Wallach and Dionne Warwick. Sports figures include Billy Bean, Chris Evert, Mitch Gaylord & Greg Louganis. David also has shot many portrait and cast shots for Theatre productions in Florida, including the cast of 'Some Men' in 2008.

It was while they were appearing on stage in Florida that David shot Beatrice Arthur and Rue McClanahan. I thank David for sharing these shots with FH and giving us a little glimpse behind of the scenes.

Favorite Birthday Boy for September 17th Nathan Wessel

Kudo's to David Vance

David Vance has always been a favorite photographer of mine. The simplicity and beauty in his photographs blows me away everytime. I always like to get to know more about the people behind the camera and issue #109 of DNA Mag had a profile on David where we got to know a little more about this talented man. Not only was I fasinated learning more about David, the first two pages had one of the most breathtaking photos I have seen in awhile. (first Pic Below). I believe it to be Nathan Wessel, but please anyone corrent me if I am mistaken. I might just have to buy this print!
